Using PayPal to pay for consults with Tim Willoughby

By the way, Tim takes MasterCard and Visa, too. But for those who prefer PayPal, we're happy to oblige.

PayPal.com is an on-line payment service owned by eBay.com (eBay is the giant on-line auction house). PayPal is becoming the 800 pound gorilla of on-line payment services. A PayPal account works kind of like a bank, where you deposit money using credit cards, or bank transfers, or maybe even other forms of payment, and then you can send that money anywhere you want. It's very easy to set up and use. I'm pleased with PayPal so far and with their apparent security measures.

Steps we'll take in performing a telephone consult

If you want to consult long distance, and if I must charge a consult fee, here is how it will work (and this works acceptably well even if your need is urgent):

• I will send you an email with instructions for how to pay the consult fee in advance through PayPal, where you can use your credit card. It will take you a few minutes to arrange the payment through PayPal using your credit card or another form of payment acceptable to PayPal. It will take longer than that if you choose to become a "verified" PayPal member. But it isn't necessary to become "verified" in order to make a modest payment through PayPal using a credit card.
• PayPal will then send me a confirmation message that your payment has been received.
• You will forward some documents to me, the same documents I would want to see if we were to meet in the office. Documents can be faxed or shipped overnight to me (but it's best to only ship photocopies).
• Then we talk. I usually have you call me at an appointed time, and you have my attention for the duration of the consult just as you would in the office. The time is yours; you've paid for it.

You might say "Why not just take credit cards directly?" Well, we do.

We take MasterCard and Visa, and we'll take your info right over the phone.
